The fate of the match was almost sealed on the third day’s play with East Zone leaving hardly any time for North Zone to pull off a dramatic win. East Zone resuming the fourth and final day’s play on 120 for 1 declared its innings at 319 for 5. Opener Manish Vardhan scored 125 from 246 balls (with 15 fours) while Anustup Majumdar scored 144 (from 227 balls with 20 fours). For North Zone, left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan picked up a consolation 3 for 78.
North Zone needing 348 for a win settled for 126 for 3 in 33 overs to end the match in a stalemate.
