The BCCI has named Bengal fast bowled Ashok Dinda as a standby player for the First Test at Ahmedabad following Ishant Sharma’s health problems. Ishant is recovering from viral fever but is expected to be fit for selection tomorrow morning.
Ishant Sharma is unlikely to make it to the playing XI even if he is fit as India could go in with a spin trio and just the lone pacer for the Ahmedabad Test. Umesh Yadav could be the lone pacer in the XI ahead of Zaheer Khan who has caused lots of uncertainties with his fitness. Having said another combination MS Dhoni and the team management could go is with Zaheer, Yadav and the spin duo of Ashwin and Ojha.
