Deccan Chargers defeated hosts Delhi Daredevils by 16 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. Batting first after winning the toss, Deccan Chargers found a new batting hero in opener Sunny Sohal who scored a lovely 62 from 41 balls with 8 fours and a six. Sohal's partnership with Kumar Sangakkara for the second wicket was 82 runs which laid the platform for the Chargers. Sangakkara was the second highest scorer with 49 from 35 balls with 8 fours and a six. The Chargers couldn't get many big overs in the second half and were restricted to 168 for 4 on a pitch where the ball wasn't quite coming onto the bat.
Daredevils in reply were in trouble losing three wickets for just 38 inside 6 overs. Opener David Warner kept their hopes intact by staying long but he couldn't get the runs as quickly as he would have loved to. Eventually Warner fell for 51 from 48 balls with 5 fours and a six leaving his side at 99 for 5 in the 15th over. There wasn't any real firepower coming in from the rest of the batsmen and Daredevils had to be content with 152 for 7 in their 20 overs.
